  1. Secure Income, Good Nutrition, Protected Nature: Promoting Smallholder Organic Farming in Nepal

                    Project Overview.

Project Site: Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dhading, and Nuwakot

Project Goal;

To bring about sustainable change in the lives of 120 smallholder farmers by promoting organic farming practices, enhancing their income opportunities, and building resilient farming communities through direct market integration and state certification.

Target Groups:

The primary beneficiaries include:

  • 120 smallholder farming families, indirectly impacting over 600 individuals.
  • Special focus on historically marginalized groups, including lower castes and ethnic minorities like the Chepang community.
  • Ten partnering institutions are collaborating for capacity building and market facilitation.

Key Project Activities

  • Farmer Training: Regular capacity-building sessions on organic production and farm management.
  • Input Support: Distribution of essential organic farming inputs to enhance productivity.
  • Support for Organic Certification: Assistance in organizing internal control systems (ICS) and documentation required for certification.

Internal Monitoring: Ongoing field assessments to ensure compliance with organic standards and progress tracking

2. Roof-top gardening by women’s groups as a chance for organic vegetable production and contribution to climate mitigation in urban areas. (June2025-September 2026)

Project Overview:

Project Goal: To promote sustainable organic vegetable production among urban women through rooftop gardening, thereby enhancing food security, environmental sustainability, and women’s empowerment in Tokha-03, Kathmandu.

Project Objectives: To empower women growers in Kathmandu to adopt sustainable rooftop and kitchen gardening practices, enhancing local food security and fostering environmental benefits, while building their technical skills and providing necessary input supports.

  1. Improving the Living Conditions of Nepalese Smallholder Farmers through the Direct Marketing of Their Products from Organic Agriculture.(June2023-July2025)

Project Overview

Project Site: Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dhading, and Nuwakot

Project beneficiaries

Ten participating cooperatives (institutional direct target group) and participating smallholder families. 120 farmers as suppliers for OVN and 600 beneficiaries were primarily from Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dhading, and Nuwakot.

Project Goal:

The project aims to support 120 small-scale farmers from Chitwan, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Makwanpur in marketing their premium organic products under equitable conditions in Nepal’s marketing and distribution systems for organic farming. This initiative seeks to help farmers achieve higher earnings, thereby enhancing their living standards and the well-being of their families.
